Map produced by Olmsted County Geographic Information Systems May 2023. Intention of this map is to display historical information from the founding year of Olmsted County, 1855. This map details the original public land surveys, originally drawn by township, and are displayed here, clipped and stitched together. Some townships were recorded as early as 1853 and as late as 1856, most in the summer of 1854. These images are the result of a collaborative effort by the State Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Office of the Secretary of State, MnGeo and the Minnesota Association of County Surveyors. The Minnesota Department of Transportation provided funding for digitizing the GLO maps.
